SUMC Senior Program Volunteers Needed

On behalf of SUMC’s Nurture Committee, we are starting a new program called the “Senior Program.” The program’s goal is to improve the quality of life for the senior members of our congregation.

Maybe some of our members feel isolated, depressed, anxious, bored, or useless. Maybe they fear they will, or have, lost their independence. Maybe they want more friends or something fun and exciting to do. This program will develop activities and approaches to address their concerns. Initially, we will start with volunteers making friendly and prayerful calls to the seniors of our church. There will be training to support this volunteer effort.

We have some additional ideas, such as: bi-monthly music programs at the church, visits with prayer / communion, pen pal initiative, and more. We can make it be whatever we want! The volunteers will help set the direction.
