To Have a Pumpkin Patch or Not? That is the Question.

Pumpkin Patch time is fast approaching, and we need to make a decision. We need YOUR input. As you know, we rely solely on volunteerism to have a successful Pumpkin Patch. We need your prayers, as well as your input. Some questions to ponder and answer for us:

  • If the Covid Virus is still the same as it currently is with the  many restrictions, what are you willing to do to help at the Pumpkin Patch?

  • Would you be willing or able to help unload?

  • Would you be willing to work the Patch? If so, how many hours per week would you be available? 

For those of you who are new to SUMC, the whole month of October, we sell pumpkins from our front lawn. It takes many people to make this the success it has been. This is our biggest annual fundraiser, averaging over $5,100 for the month in profit.

Did You Know…

  • Our pumpkins are tentatively scheduled to arrive October 3

  • This will be the 19th year we’ve had a pumpkin patch

  • Our pumpkins come from the Navajo Indian reservation in Farmington, New Mexico

  • Our patch is open the entire month of October, totaling about 375 hours

  • Our sale benefits the Navajo’s who grow our pumpkins and we receive a percentage of the total sales

  • In the past 18 years, we have sold $304,669.42 in pumpkins

  • Our profit to date is $101,342.39

  • 2019 was our most profitable year to date—we sold $30,295 in pumpkins, netting $9,835.97 for the Church’s General Fund

  • The pumpkin patch originally started as a fundraiser for our youth group in 2002
