Service Online Again

Service Online Again

We were all looking forward to welcoming Pastor Hannah during her first worship service at SUMC. However, the restrictions set forth by Allegheny County make it necessary to keep our doors closed this Sunday and to return to online worship, at least for July 5. Below is a letter from Pastor Hannah about the closure.

The July 5 worship service with Pastor Hannah will be available here on our website beginning at 10 am on Sunday.

Leap of Faith Extra

Leap of Faith Extra

Kelly already gave you a peek of this week’s extra song on Facebook. We had a number of songs that supported Kim’s sermon. Here’s Crowder’s Lift Your Head Weary Sinner.

Creation Music Festival

Creation Music Festival

If you’ve heard about Creation Music Festival or thought about attending in the past, but weren’t sure it was for you, consider viewing Creation’s “Tribute to our Creator” Facebook livestream event starting on Friday June 26 at 6 PM and continuing on Saturday June 27th at the same time.

Attendance Tracking Volunteers

Attendance Tracking Volunteers

As we continue to live with changes during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is imperative for us to take complete and accurate attendance each time we gather to worship. Volunteers are needed to record names and contact info as people come for worship. Please let Pam Honeychurch know if you can serve in this capacity this Sunday or upcoming Sundays.

The service ran way over Sunday, so we skipped our last song. Here it is for your enjoyment. How great!

Leap of Faith Extra

Leap of Faith Extra

Three songs per service isn’t enough! Here’s a little something extra we recorded for you last week. We love you all, and we can’t wait to be back worshipping with you in-person.

Return to In-Person Worship

Return to In-Person Worship

On Sunday, June 14 at 10 am, we will resume in-person worship. This will be Pastor Russel’s last Sunday with us before he retires. Masks (for everyone over 3 years old) and social distancing will be required, and the nursery will not be offered.

This week’s extra song is dedicated to Bill Utterback. Nothing stays the same when we pray.

A Little Gift from Leap of Faith

A Little Gift from Leap of Faith

We’ve received requests for more music, since you’re getting a little less from us in the online services each week. You don’t have to ask twice to get us to play another song!

Sermon Recording

Sermon Recording

During the coming weeks while we are in the "Yellow Zone," a very limited number of people (approximately 20) will be able to be present in the sanctuary as the sermon is recorded. For more information and to RSVP click here.

The Pittsburgh Blessing

The Pittsburgh Blessing

What started out as a crazy idea, turned into a powerful worship moment in our city. In less than 2 weeks, nearly 30 churches unified to sing a blessing over our city of Pittsburgh. This video was revealed during many of the Easter online services in churches across the city of Pittsburgh during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Holy Week services are posted here on our website. For those who enjoy following and participating in the liturgy, the bulletins are provided with each service. The Easter bulletins also include the Prayer List and Easter “Flower” Dedications.

Easter “Flower” Dedications

Easter “Flower” Dedications

This year, we won't be together to celebrate Easter, and the chancel won’t be adorned with beautiful Easter flowers. But, if you would like to make a “virtual dedication,” fill out the form here no later than Tuesday, April 7. There is no cost, and there won’t be any actual flowers. The dedications will be shared with our SUMC Church Family for the Easter service.

Until we are able to gather as a church again for worship, beginning this Sunday at 10 am, visit our website (sewickleyumc.org) for a blended 4th Sunday of Lent Worship Service, brought to us thanks to Pastor Russel, Leap of Faith, and Matt McTeague. The service will also be available on the church’s Facebook page. For those who enjoy following and participating in the liturgy, the bulletin is available here.

If you would like to purchase flowers to adorn the chancel on Easter Sunday, please complete this form and mail or bring to the church. The order deadline is March 29. If we are not able to hold Easter services, refunds will be given.

Online Services

Online Services

In light of the COVID-19 epidemic, the church building will be closed for at least the next two Sundays (March 22 & 29). But the church is not a building; the church is not a steeple or a clocktower. No, the church is the people, and the people of Sewickley UMC will be providing a service online. Please watch our homepage Sunday morning.
