Without fully understanding the bigger picture, it is easy to ask the question, “Why me?” We have hopes and dreams that are already actively participating in building our future. When something comes along that is quite unexpected, it is hard to see that thing might be better than what we were dreaming up. What Mary’s story, the mother of Jesus, teaches us is that if our eyes are fixed on God, we might realize how near-sighted we have been. That unexpected opportunity might turn into something as grand as everlasting glory.
