Anatole France said, “Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.” When it comes to the relationship between a person and an animal, there is a great unequal balance of power. We, the humans, hold all the power. Some animals might be stronger than us, but we have the knowledge and resources to possess greater strength if we desire to do harm or to rule over. We were never meant to rule over the animals as a tyrant rules over their subjects but more to live along side and care for all of God’s creatures in this world. The way you love the weaker says everything about the light in your heart.
