Do I really have to hate my family? That is, after all, what this scripture is telling me. I thought we weren’t supposed to hate anyone, but love everyone. Is it really impossible to follow Jesus and to love my family also? A common theme throughout a lot of scripture is one of sacrifice. It is no surprise, then, that we are called to sacrifice that which we love to follow Jesus. But is the sacrifice we are being asked to make the sacrifice of love in exchange for hate?
