Do you prefer a high horse or a donkey?
Have you ever heard the phrase, “come down off your high horse?” Urbandictonary.com tells us this phrase is used when someone is in an argument, refuses to admit they are wrong, and keeps acting “holier-than-thou.” Before we head into Passion Week, where we read and remember the scriptures that lead to the death and resurrection of Christ, we pause for a celebratory moment that has come to be known as Palm Sunday. What we find in this pause is that Jesus, who is “holier-than-thou,” doesn’t arrive to a throng of cheering crowds on his high horse; he arrives on a donkey. Why a donkey, and what can we learn from this act of humility?
