You are my friend.
Bernard Meltzer, who was considered the “Father of expert talk radio,” said, “A true friend is someone who thinks you are a good egg even though he knows you are slightly cracked.” After sending this to a friend, they responded, “We are all slightly cracked.” Isn’t that the truth? Which is why when Jesus says he considers us his friend, it just doesn’t seem to hit home in my heart. He is not slightly cracked, so how can he be friends with those who are? It is easy to think about perfect, sacrificial Jesus as savior and king. What does it mean to think about him as our friend?
