The first signer of the Declaration of Independence, John Hancock, said, “Resistance to tyranny becomes the Christian and social duty of each individual.” This is an exciting sentiment that when carried out comes with sometimes scary consequences. However, this is a sentiment of biblical proportions. We do not have to look too hard in scripture to find stories of resistance. However, there is something that those stories all have in common: no harm is committed on the resister’s behalf.
