Hopefully, you have taken the time to read both Pastor Russel Shuluga’s letter and the Outreach Committee’s message addressing concerns over current USA immigration and refugee practices.  The United Methodist Church has long-standing views on these topics.

After discussing possible actions to respond to these concerns, Pastor Russel and the Outreach Committee decided on a first step. You are urged to prayerfully consider sending an email to your federal legislators.

The General Board of Church and Society of the United Methodist Church has provided a suggested email, which is fully editable. Once you input personal information (name, address, email), you may delete or edit portions of the provided letter. Therefore, if you agree to only some portion of the stance being taken by the UMC, you may delete what you don’t want to include in your letter. If you wish to add to the letter, you may also do that.

To view and submit the letter, visit https://www.umcjustice.org/what-you-can-do/advocacy/take-action/stand-with-immigrants-and-refugees.

Please note that two areas of the letter have brackets [ ]; the website generates the bracket contents after you press SUBMIT. The system sends your email for you, identifying your legislators based on your personal information provided.

Your prayers are also requested for those who are suffering, whether through floods or through trials that have brought immigrants/refugees to our country.
