Our 2021 OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD shoeboxes were shipped to children in the Dominican Republic and Honduras on December 9 and may have been distributed in time for Christmas.

The SUMC family contributed 121 boxes this year. We filled 100 shoeboxes at church, and we gathered 21 boxes filled by families in the community. We have, in campaigns conducted by the Fellowship of the Cross youth, contributed more than 1,100 boxes over the past 11 years.

Each box is delivered with an invitation to attend classes sharing the love and life of Jesus. We can continue to pray for the children receiving the boxes and the volunteers who serve them.

This is the second time our boxes have reached the Dominican Republic and Honduras. In recent years, we have also reached children in Ecuador, Columbia, Ukraine, the Bahamas, and Burundi. The delivery to Honduras extends a relationship between SUMC and the Central American nation that includes several short-term mission trips and more than 20 members of the church family.

The Fellowship of the Cross accepts OCC donations year-round, and we’re thankful for the contributions we have received in the past month for our 2022 campaign.
