In honor of the men in our congregation, we will be collecting socks and underwear (new, not used please!) to give to a men’s shelter in Pittsburgh. This might sound like a silly thing to honor our men with, but these are the very basics of what you and I have an abundance of in our drawers. They are what keep us clean and comfortable. They are also the two things men who find themselves in challenging times do not have regular access to. This is an effort to preserve their dignity and offer them comfort. If your last name starts with an A-L, please buy socks. If your last name starts with an M-Z, please buy underwear. On Father’s Day, we will lay them on the altar rail and say a prayer over them and those who will receive them.
