Our community luncheon is this Thursday, March 7, 11 am to 1 pm. Please consider donating your homemade salads, which should be brought to the church by 10 am the day of the luncheon.
Our sister church, St. Matthew’s AME Zion, is hosting an all-you-can-eat breakfast on Saturdays in February, 8 am - noon.
In case you haven’t heard, our 71st Annual Turkey Dinner is Thursday, February 14. Here are the details.
SUMC is teaming up with the American Cancer Society and Sewickley Relay for Life to raise funds through daffodil sales. Until February 17th, you may place your order via the sign-up sheets in the back of the sanctuary and in the Simpson Room or by emailing Martha Boward (maboward@yahoo.com). Payment must be made prior to February 17th, as well.
Thank you for helping to pay down the principal on our sanctuary renovation loan through our sale. Chicken Tortilla Soup, Ham and Potato Soup, Chili with Kidney & Black Beans, and Sandra’s Hummus are on the menu for our January sale. Order forms are on the posters in the Simpson Room and Sanctuary and are due by this Sunday, January 27.
There will be a quick meeting for all committee members on Sunday after the Traditional Service at 12:30 pm in the Simpson Room.
Volunteers are needed to wait tables during the 71st Annual Turkey Dinner on February 14. The dinner runs from 5 pm until 7ish. If you can wait tables for all or part of the evening, please reply or let Lou Ann Scott know. There will be childcare in the nursery for volunteers working at the dinner.

Our Cookie Walk will soon be here. It’s time to break out those recipes! Please donate as many cookies as you can. There’s a sign-up sheet in the sanctuary. There are lots of volunteer positions this coming Wednesday through Saturday (December 12 – 15) for decorating, setting up, and selling. Donna Sawhill and Sandy Kuriger have details.
If you ordered a wreath, it can be picked up after each service this coming Sunday at the parsonage garage. There are also extra Victorian, Cranberry, and Wintergreen wreaths, mini trees, and a centerpiece available at $30 each, and a Classic wreath for $25. If you would like one of the extras, please let Kelly Herman or Pastor Russel know. Proceeds benefit the General Fund.
The Sewickley United Methodist Women agreed to donate some rummage sale household items to a family setting up their own home in Mooncrest, a Moon Township low income housing area. The family is very grateful for the pots, pans, dishware, utensils, toaster oven, and kitchen linens.
The UMW is having a rummage sale next weekend (Nov 9 & 10). Your donations of clean, fresh clothing, books, kitchen items, white elephant items, and household goods are much appreciated, but please no computers, electronic components, large pieces of furniture, or exercise equipment. All proceeds support UMW mission projects on the local, national, and international levels.
Thank you for supporting our fundraiser to help pay down the building loan. The choices for our October sale are Cream of Chicken and Wild Rice, Broccoli Cheddar, and Vegetable Beef soups, as well as Sandra’s hummus. Order forms are on the displays in the Simpson Room and Sanctuary and are due THIS SUNDAY, OCTOBER 21, for November 1-4 pickup.
This Sunday, October 21, is the deadline to order gift items to be shipped. All other orders are due by next Sunday, October 28.
Our church has skeletons in its closets. You also might find them being gnawed by plague rats, laying around in Jack the Ripper’s alley, or in Lizzi Borden’s dining room. SUMC’s 2018 Haunted House will take you back to the victorian era for a ripping good time, starting this weekend.
Our monthly Salad Luncheon is this Thursday, October 4 from 11 am to 1 pm. Proceeds support the General Fund. Please consider donating your homemade salads for the salad luncheons, as the luncheons are very popular, and we need a good spread to feed the faithful supporters of our luncheons.
This is the first year SUMC will serve a public dinner to kick off autumn. Please come on Saturday, October 6th from 5-7 pm. Bring friends for a traditional homemade roast pork, sausage, and sauerkraut dinner with potatoes, Haluski, homemade desserts, Bavarian pretzels, and beverages.
Saturday, September 29, at around 10:00 am, the pumpkins arrive! As you know, many hands make light work, and we need as many able-bodied souls as we can get to unload our precious cargo and turn our church lawn into a sea of orange.
The UMW is holding a rummage sale in the church basement on Friday, September 7, 5 - 8 pm, and Saturday, September 8, 8 am - 1 pm. All proceeds go to missions—local, national and international.
