With Easter just around the corner, I hope it’s not too early for you to think about pumpkins. Yes, I did say pumpkins. We would like to get an early start on the Pumpkin Patch this year. Your ideas and suggestions are always welcome.

This will be our 20th year selling pumpkins, and we’d like to celebrate this milestone with a “Pumpkin Festival.” Some ideas discussed:

  • Pumpkin House on the lawn

  • Float in the Halloween parade

  • Scholarship for a local youth (essay contest)

  • Percentage of profit to go back to the Navajo Nation

  • Crafts

  • Face painting

  • Pumpkin painting demos

  • Food, food, and more food

  • Square dance and/or English country dancing in parking lot in the evening

  • Small giveaways to children

  • Thank you to the community for supporting us

There are so many ideas but we need volunteers to make it a success. This will all occur while the 2021 Pumpkin Patch is in operation, so mark your calendar for the following dates:

  • October 2 – Pumpkins arrive

  • October 9 – Pumpkin Festival

  • October 16 – Rain date for Pumpkin Festival

Please let Lou Ann Scott or Diane Bartley know if you are interested in helping in any way. It will NOT happen without YOU! Also, please watch your newsletter and emails for more ways to help with the Pumpkin Patch. We will be looking for different chairs to head up different Committees, keeping in mind that this is the church’s biggest fundraiser, and it takes MANY to make it a SUCCESS!
