Dr. Jack Allen Morrow, O.D., 97, popular Optometrist in the Aliquippa and Pittsburgh area for thirty years, retiring from DALMO Optical in 1990, died on January 3, 2023. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years, Ruthann, affectionately known as “Tanny.” He is survived by his sons, Scott (Christine) of Corydon, IN, Todd (Susan) of Holly Lake Ranch, TX, and daughter Ann (Bill) Smith of Bethel Park, PA; grandsons, Wesley (Ali) and Alexander (Victoria), granddaughters Kelsey (Ryan) Pfeiffer and Meghan Morrow; seven great grandchildren, and one brother Arthur of Hilton Head, SC.

Born in Butler, PA, December 6, 1925, the son of Arthur and Violet Mullins Morrow, Jack grew up in Kittanning, PA where he lived next door to his future wife. In his youth, he was a Sea Scout Leader and taught seamanship on the Allegheny River. Turning 16 the day before Pearl Harbor, Jack enlisted with the Marine Corps after graduating high school and served as a radar operator in the Pacific theater on Okinawa during WWII.

Jack was the Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Management of Deer Valley YMCA Family Camp where his family spent many years during the summer months where they met lifelong friends. He served on the Board in various capacities for 45 years. Jack enjoyed sailing at Moraine State Park, owning three boats over time, and was a master Cribbage player passing that love onto his extended family. Jack also enjoyed golfing, although there wasn’t a water hole he couldn’t find. His favorite saying being “Golf spelled backwards is Flog”. His family remembers him toiling over the daily crossword and Sudoku puzzles and rarely being stumped by them. He was also an avid reader and was a member of the Moon Township Friends of the Library.

A devout Christian, Jack was very active in the Sewickley United Methodist Church where he has been a member since 1962 serving in many capacities. As a member of the Senior Men’s Club of Sewickley he is fondly thought of for his smile and the uncanny ability to recall the names of all the members.

He has requested no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sewickley United Methodist Church c/o the Clock Tower Fund or Deer Valley YMCA Family Camp, 254 Deer Valley Drive, Fort Hill, PA, 15440.
