In light of the recent news about children in U.S. government holding facilities along the U.S.–Mexico border, UMCOR has received numerous requests to respond. The facilities in question are managed in such a way that precludes even UMCOR’s assistance. While this case is in the U.S., migration is a global issue, and the breadth and depth of our Global Migration programming at UMCOR and Global Ministries reflects that. As a church that is united on the need to care for children, we can be in mission together.
Thanks to your support, through individual contributions and through the Outreach Committee budget allocation, Sewickley UMC delivered 50 hygiene kits to Eastbrook Mission Barn.
Look for the cart on June 23rd. Children are out of school for the summer—consider purchasing peanut butter, jelly, macaroni and cheese, juice, and other nutritious, kid-friendly foods for June’s collection.
In response to the many weather-related disasters in recent weeks, UMCOR, the UMC’s relief agency, has been assessing needs and has issued initial grants to a number of areas. It is only through the generosity of you and others that UMCOR is able to respond to the many needs. To aid in the long-term recovery efforts necessitated by the recent and future disasters, please consider making a donation to UMCOR, either with your regular offering or via EasyTithe (mark or select UMCOR).
To help replenish hygiene kits at Eastbrook Mission Barn, our AC UMCOR satellite, the Outreach Committee set a goal to assemble 50 hygiene kits. Your Outreach Committee has purchased any items which were not donated in May, and your financial contribution is needed to cover those costs.
Traditionally, SUMC has selected a United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) relief kit to assemble and deliver to AC at Grove City College each June. UMCOR keeps an inventory of relief kits ready for its ongoing ministries and for emergency responses. SUMC will assemble 50 hygiene kits.

The collection basket is in the back of the sanctuary. Financial donations are also welcome for FOTC to purchase for you. Thanks for your help!

You are asked to take a bag with the grocery list attached, purchase the non-perishable items, and return the filled bag with the list attached. In addition, SUMC is accepting cash donations in order to provide each family with a Giant Eagle gift card, with which the family may purchase perishable items such as ham and eggs.
While the relay is no longer planned, the Relay for Life group plans other activities in lieu of that fundraiser. The next event is a Havana-themed Cooking for a Cure on April 27th. You may follow Relay for Life of Sewickley Valley on Facebook for this and future events.

Muffin, bread, or biscuit mixes would make a nice addition to those items. The grocery cart will be in the sanctuary on February 24th, but your contributions are welcome anytime.
This February, cover some babies with love by donating diapers and wipes! During February, SUMC will again accept diapers and baby wipes to help refugee families through the Jewish Family and Community Services (JFCS).
