We're so thrilled to present this month's #MeetTheMember, Mr. Otis E. McAliley. Many of us delight in his can-do attitude and radiant smile. In honor of Otis, dance to some R&B music and enjoy this Q&A! Q: What’s your favorite place to eat in the ‘Burgh? A: I don't go out much to restaurants to eat; however, I enjoy good seafood and good soul food. Q: Have you ever used a chair as a parking spot? A: Never used a chair to save a parking space. Q: What's your favorite kind of music? A: I enjoy R&B, Gospel music and dancing of all kinds. Q: No peeking! How many bridges do you think Pittsburgh has? A: I believe Pittsburgh has 446 bridges. Q: How Long Have You Been Attending/Involved with SUMC? A: I have been a member of this United Methodist Church for about 10 years. Before that, I worshipped at Fellowship UMC in Ambridge. I served as the Center for Hope's first Executive Director, which was founded by Fellowship UMC. Here at SUMC, I was a member of the Adm Council and served as its SPRC chair. Q: In what Ways Are You Involved in SUMC? A: Member of the 10am adult Sunday school class and part of the Tuesday evening Bible study group. Q: What inspired you to choose SUMC as your spiritual home? A: I have worshipped at several United Methodist Churches throughout our country and served as Lay Leader at three of them. Q: Why should others come to check us out? A: SUMC is, for the most part, a welcoming church. I believe people will like and enjoy Pastor Hannah as she delivers God's Words. However, my brothers and sisters will have to get used to our music, although Erik is trying to add a little spirit to our music. Otis is pictured in front of SUMC art that also describes him!
