The Vacation Bible School team has set the dates for this year’s “Block Party” as August 3–6th. We will gather from 6:00–8:00 pm each evening. We are launching on a Sunday evening this year, hoping to create a less hurried opening night. Registration details will be released soon. Our Community VBS is a cooperative effort involving St. Matthews AME Zion and St. Paul’s Lutheran Churches. Sewickley UMC hosts the event, and all children and youth, Pre–K through 8th grade, are invited. High school students are welcomed as volunteers.
Our “Block Party: Building God’s Community” theme is rooted in the building blocks of God’s Kingdom: love, faith, kindness, cooperation, courage, imagination, patience, and forgiveness, for example. We may also build some friendships using wooden blocks, alphabet blocks, and Lego blocks. Volunteers are always welcome, and our most urgent need is for a snack person, snack team, or snack family. Responsibilities include planning, shopping, and serving simple snacks for the children each night. We have a modest budget. Anyone interested in volunteering should connect with Grace Rogansky, Felicity Johnston, or Bill Utterback.
