The First United Methodist Church and Warren United Methodist Church Wrestling with Racism Team, along with the Pittsburgh District Anti-Racism Team, have been planning a trip to Washington, D.C. to the National Museum of African American History and Culture on March 29th, 2025.

On January 19th, SUMC will join other United Methodist congregations in celebrating Human Relations Day. This special Sunday, which is traditionally observed near Martin Luther King Day, focuses on fostering better relationships within diverse communities and supporting community and youth outreach.
The Contemporary Christmas Eve Service will be held at 5:00 pm, and the Traditional Service will be held at 7:30.
The crochet and knitting circle is continuing their mission project of making prayer shawls (both traditionally masculine and feminine) for a local hospice.
The Witness Committee is hoping to grow our “cookie team” to provide snacks, once a month, for the Alcoholics Anonymous meetings held in our building.
There will be a new members class beginning on January 26th and ending on March 2nd.
The Pittsburgh Anti-Racism Team is pleased to open nominations for our 3rd Annual Paul Taylor Anti-Racism Award.
There will be a joint service held at 10:00 am on Sunday, December 22, which will include our Christmas Pageant and be followed by the Breakfast for Baby Jesus. There will also be a joint service held on December 29 at 10:00 am.
By the time you read this, the Leadership Board will have returned from our annual planning retreat.

The Home Goods Closet for our new El Buen Vecino Ministry is now underway, and we are accepting items for it!
This year, we continue our tradition of collecting Christmas gifts and new hats, mittens, gloves, scarves, and socks for the children and youth at Kidcelerate (formerly Bethany House) in the Northview Heights neighborhood in Pittsburgh.
