From time to time, I can be overheard saying the words “peace out.” This is simply a way of saying goodbye to someone who I am particularly familiar with and who knows my more playful side. It is both a light and sincere goodbye—see you later, and be well. As Jesus is surrounded by those whom he is the most familiar with and who are the most familiar with him, he also has some parting words for them. He says a little more than “peace out,” yet his words establish more peace than mine ever could. Join us as we visit what has come to be known as Jesus’s farewell discourse. Knowing he had little time left on earth with his disciples, what did he say in those precious moments that was meant to leave a lasting impact for the world to hang on to. How do some of his final words leave a lasting impact on you and me?
