Before going on a trip, there are a couple essential things that well-prepared people do. They make sure the vehicle that is going to get them there has been maintained, filled up with gas, and in our family, stocked with food. Jesus was about to begin his ministry, and through his baptism, he was fueling his body with the sustenance he needed for the journey ahead. By being baptized, he also fulfilled the scriptures that were spoken long ago and was publicly affirmed by God.
