Health benefits have been a sore spot in the history of our nation. Largely, people get upset over the idea of paying for someone else to have affordable access to health care. Can you imagine if Jesus got upset over paying other people’s way into heaven? What if he just gave up and said, “You’re not working for it; why would I?” Maybe instead of seeing this as an unfairness in the world, we can see this as an opportunity to be Jesus for the world. That is the gift the church has to offer.
