Before going on a trip, there are a couple essential things that well-prepared people do.
Jesus never lost sight of his purpose, but he knew how to party!
Jesus worked, too. He didn’t just come to earth with all heavenly authority to be a king and be served by his subjects; he came to serve.
Jesus seems so untouchable sometimes. In our effort to understand more about who he is, we are going to start by looking at who makes up his ancestry and the heritage he claims. Good thing our family does not have to define our future.
Did Jesus really change water into wine, and did he really walk on the water? Can I really move a mountain?
I’m sure we’ve all experienced it— whether at school, work, church, etc. You walk into the cafeteria, lunchroom, etc. and you freeze.
It is hard for us to understand the exact nature of the relationship between God and Jesus. In our search to understand, we easily loose sight of the fact that Jesus is fully human. He is not partially human but fully! He is fully God too, but maybe even more human than you and I.
Jesus is not just a name or a story, but an action, a verb, a vibe… an entire way of life. Let me introduce you to Jesus.

This life is not worth living unless we are living it in relationship with other people. Too often we value independence when really it is interdependence we were created for.
June 27th is National PTSD awareness day. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a very real and a very serious problem. The good news is that there has been a breakthrough.
Today we are going to act like we are all watching the service from the comfort of our couches again. Wear your pajamas; bring a snack or your favorite stuffed animal. Today, we are going to rest.
Just because a person cannot legally be owned as property by another does not mean that they are free. Just because it is no longer legal to whip and beat persons of color does not mean it doesn’t happen anymore.
Have you ever been so sure of what you wanted, arranged your whole life to aim at that one thing? Then out of nowhere, something comes along to throw you totally off course, and you realize you didn’t know what you wanted after all.
Do you remember when you had your first kiss? Do you remember when you held your baby for the first time? Do you remember when you got accepted into the college of your choice? Do you remember when your team won a game? Do you remember when…?
It is so much fun to watch our baby boy grow. We love watching the stages he goes through to learn something we take for granted, like walking.
Have you ever applied for a job and had to give your references to the potential employers? Have those employers actually followed up with your references? The hope is that you chose the right people to speak on your behalf. After all, you did a great job and deserve a good reference. But what about when your performance was sub-par? Who will speak on your behalf then?
We should rename the book of Acts and call it the book of Boundary Breaking.
